US Public Education: Historically Speaking

Jaime is solo this week and setting the stage for our Life, Liberty, & Pursuit of Happiness series by doing a deep dive into the history of US Public Education. Grab a cup of your favorite beverage and settle in for a history lesson - find out how the education system evolved in the USA, if the separation of church and state was effective in early American education, and more. Is our current system still viable? Are we backsliding or are we still moving towards achieving the goals of the founding fathers? Listen in and let us know your opinion! Jaime’s expertise in regards to public education? 12ish years of participation and some googling. Interestingly they don’t discuss a whole lot of the history of education during public education. At one point, Jaime did visit Harper’s Ferry with some friends and while there it was noted that the slate tablets they used “back in the day” are of similar shape to today’s tablets kids use for school and entertainment. History repeats itself in interesting ways.

Their qualifications to discuss the topic? Hydration and caffeination during recording sessions which fuel hyperfixations. Really they’re wholly unqualified, but knowing that is half the battle. Go Joe! (That’s practically a coffee pun.)

Basically, anything they discuss? Don’t take their word for it - but they hope you enjoy the show!
